About Us

PHOENIX SEARCH was founded in Mexico City in 1994 to provide “Blue Chip” industrial, service and consumer goods organizations throughout Mexico, “world-class” Executive Search and Recruitment services. At the request of some of our multinational customers, we have opened offices in Brazil to provide them with the same level of service.. We have also conducted numerous searches from Mexico in Central America, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, and Chile. Our established reputation serving Major Multinational Companies attests to the all-around quality of our services, particularly in relation to the promptness with which quality candidates are submitted.

Company Directors

L. Ignacio Garrote Arango

Born in Cuba and a naturalized United States citizen, he resides in Mexico City, where he founded Phoenix Search in March, 1994 and currently is leading Latin American Operations. Was previously Commercial Director for Memorex-Telex Corporation-Mexico. Country Manager of NCR Corporation for Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and the Virgin Islands. Also worked as Independent Marketing Channels Manager for Latin America, the Middle East and Africa based out of World Headquarters in Dayton Ohio Eleven years experience in the Information Technology Industry in a number of functional areas such as Country Management, Sales/Marketing Management, and Finance & Administration. Has worked for other multinational companies such as Chase Manhattan Bank and Colgate Palmolive Co. His responsibilities have led him to transact business in 44 countries and territories. Graduated with honors from Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, with a Bachelors Degree in Finance and Accounting.

Founded R.P. Consultoria e Participaçoes Ltda. in 1992 a Financial Management consulting firm that in 1995 established a partnership with Phoenix Search International thus giving rise to Phoenix Search – Brazil. Worked for 14 years with Saabergwerk AG, which at the time controlled two enterprises in Brazil: Ferramentas Belzer and Ferramentas Fette. Was Financial Manager at Belzer and General and Commercial Director at Fette. In 1985, in association with two friends and Brazil´s largest private bank (Bradesco), founded CPM Informatica S.A. for which he became its Financial Director until 1990. In 1991, in association with SCI, he founded Data Scan Processamento de Imagens Ltda., to pioneer digital imaging solutions in Brazil. Ten years in the Information Technology industry as an executive and entrepreneur, and almost thirty years of experience in Financial, Administrative and General Management. Graduated from the University of Sao Paulo (USP) with a BS in Economics. Holds post graduate degrees from Berkeley University in California (Finance) and the INSEAD in Fountaibleau, France (General Management).
